Hi there and welcome to Craving Everything! I love all food and will eat virtually anything. This is a food blog that reviews recipes I’ve mostly found on Pinterest, but also from other social media sites (i.e. Instagram) and food bloggers. Here I’ll also be sharing my experiences with restaurants in Texas (mainly in Dallas and San Antonio), and from my occasional travels too.
Who are you?
My name is Niva Shrestha, and I’m the girl behind this blog. I’m a fitness loving, book reading, outdoor living, casual yoga doing, Food Network watching, bad joke telling, but most importantly a food loving human being. I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, but currently am living in Dallas. I’m a college sophomore at the University of Texas at Dallas and studying to be a future doctor (yay pre-med!) to live out my Grey’s Anatomy dreams. In between studying, working out, and hanging out with my friends and family, I love to cook and bake.
My family is originally from Nepal, but I was born here, deep in the heart of Texas. Growing up I was fortunate enough to have a momma who is an amazing cook. From creamy curries to baked salmon marinated with Greek yogurt and spices, she makes it all. When I was little she’d stick me in a high chair and basically imprison me until I ate all of the food on my plate. Now, I eat (almost) everything and anything and love trying out new dishes! Also, I have never seen my mom crack open a cookbook. She casually invents delicious, new dinners and cooking techniques on the fly too. She’s crazy and this is whom I developed my love of cooking from.
Since my mom just cooked from memory, we never really had many cookbooks at home while I was growing up. When I wanted to eat something different or bake treats I usually looked up recipes on Pinterest and my “Food!” and “Good In” board became my virtual cookbook. Now I’m living in my own apartment and trying to feed myself, so we’ll see how it goes. Cooking in a tiny apartment should be an adventure in itself. Also, I’ve always wondered if the recipes I’ve seen on Pinterest actually turn out and taste as great as they look in pictures. Now you can find out with me as I try them out!
